The Good News of Wisdom
~ Brother Thomas Paul ~
I understood and studied about Wisdom mainly from the writings and teachings of John of the Cross. Every time I read his works I am more and more convinced that I must yearn and seek only Wisdom and nothing else.
Our saints and blessed ones wish that all of us be filled with wisdom and attain sainthood.
Believing in this we must strive to awaken and ignite the Holy Spirit within us and pray that the fount of Wisdom will spring forth in us.
The Good News is that we have already received Wisdom during our Baptism. We must seek and savour wisdom and understand the mysteries of God’s kingdom.
The primary aspect of God’s kingdom is the knowledge of God and hence it is incomprehensible to man. God himself has to reveal God for us to understand Him.
What is it that comes to mind when we talk about Christmas?
The Star? Right? Why do we hang a star? The Star is God’s Wisdom. As mentioned earlier,
The knowledge of God is Wisdom. The Christmas Star was visible to the entire world that night, but only three wise men gave heed to it. They found it to be full of mystery. There is no scientific evidence as to why they felt so.
Mathew 1
The three wise men told King Herod that the Saviour of the world is born…but the King did not have the desire to worship this Saviour. The wise men at the Kings court had read and studied about the Saviour who is to come in the Scriptures…but they too did not
Feel like worshipping the Saviour. Our relationship with Jesus begins with worship. Worship is a love story. It is a state of complete surrender…hence the three wise Kings worshipped baby Jesus in a stable. How did they believe and understand that such a Mighty King lay in this stable?
Even in the absence of any kind of royal splendour, the three wise kings understood and that was… their Wisdom.
And this is …unveiling which means …revelation.
God gives us His Wisdom and leads us to the complete knowledge of God Himself and this…is Revelation.
The Holy Bible is full of God’s Wisdom and that very Wisdom has reincarnated as man and come to us. The Star is the symbol of that Wisdom. Wisdom is the biggest treasure in this world….God’s Wisdom.
Our God ..longs to shower on each one of us…His Wisdom in abundance. The star first appeared to herald the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Only three wise Kings could understand that. The High priests and the learned men’s knowledge was limited only to the written texts. If they believed in the written words, they would have joined the three wise Kings to worship the Saviour. Only studying the written texts will not help one to attain wisdom. Wisdom has to be given by God Himself.
St. Therese of Lisseux exhibited great wisdom even at a very young age. The Holy church in its writings about St. Therese of Lisseux stated that she did not attend any Bible studies or theology classes but God Himself gave her wisdom.
We must never believe that we have any kind of blocks to receive Wisdom. That thought itself is the block in attaining Wisdom. We must get that thought out of our system first.
Our everloving God will never give us that kind of block.
